Are you having issues with your current web host? Maybe they are too expensive compared to other hosting companies? Maybe the level of service is poor? Whatever the reason for wanting to leave, there is a problem that you may encounter. How will you move your website? It can’t be easy to move everything to a new server, right? I mean, when you make the move, you have to make sure that all of the data gets transferred, and also that everything works like it should. If you move to a new host and find out that the transfer was not successful… well, there are really no advantages to making that move! In fact, your site may be dead, which is not a good thing!
Recently, I saw a survey online, it was shown on the website of my favorite web hosting company, ServInt. According to this survey a large percentage of people want to move to a different host for their website, but they don’t make the move, or delay the move for a long time because they don’t know what to do or how to move their sites. Or, maybe the “kind of” know how to do it, but they are scared that it won’t work out well for them. I can understand the sentiment, I mean for many of us our websites are what makes money for us, and if your website goes down in flames, you may be left with no income. That would not be a good thing.
I used to feel the same, scared to move from one hosting company to another. But, some years back, I was with a host that was so bad that it was absolutely imperative that I had to move! Because of this, I decided that I better learn how to move to a new host, and learn quickly. So, I did.
