There is a WordPress plugin called Text Hover, which I have been using for a number of years now. What is Text Hover? What does it do?
Well, to be honest, it is a very simple little plugin that works with your WordPress blog. What it does is that it gives the definition of abbreviations that you use on your site. If you insert a word or abbreviation regularly, and that word needs a bit of definition or explanation, Text Hover will be a great addition to your site. For example, I have a website which is very popular, called the Live in the Philippines Web Magazine. Most people shorten the name and just call it “LiP”. But, people who are just finding the site don’t have any idea what “LiP” is if they see it in an article. So, if you put your mouse over the abbreviation, it tells you the full name of the site. Look at the image on the right, that is a screen shot of an article on LiP, which shows what you see if you put your mouse over the abbreviation.
Basically, after you install the plugin, you would then set up a list of words or abbreviations for which you want to implement the text hover on. It’s a great little plugin and it helps new visitors to your site so they can figure out what a certain word or abbreviation means in the context of your site.
The developer of this great plugin is “Coffee to Code,” or a person named Scott Riley. I would like to thank Scott for this handy little effort that he came out with.
Go download Text Hover and give it a try. I bet you will find it useful, like I did!
